LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - One person has been hospitalized after a shooting near a Lexington Park.

Lexington Police posted on social media that officers were dispatched to Gainesway Park for reported shots fired around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived, they say they located an 18-year-old male victim who had been shot.

Police report that the victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is stable.

Fayette County Public Schools spokesperson Miranda Scully says Tates Creek High School, Tates Creek Middle School and Tates Creek Elementary School are on “heightened alert due to police activity in the area.”

Scully reports that all buses at the middle school have left campus. Walkers and a few car riders are being held until the “heightened alert” is canceled.
