PHOENIX (AZFamily) — One person is dead after a driver crashed into a median wall along a freeway transition ramp in central Phoenix late Monday night.

At about 10:45 p.m., first responders responded to the Mini Stack near the I-10 and State Route 51, on reports of a car hitting a wall, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Troopers arrived and found a car had gone over the embankment at the transition ramp of eastbound I-10 and northbound SR 51.

One person died on scene, according to DPS. Two people were taken to the hospital, and their condition wasn’t known.

Authorities say one person was thrown out as a result of the wreck. The investigation remains ongoing.
