Adam Foote has been there and done that. He’s not one to panic.
As a big and imposing NHL blueliner, he earned two Stanley Cup rings. As a Vancouver Canucks assistant coach last season, he guided the penalty kill to a third-overall ranking at 82.6 per cent proficiency.
That is light years away from a pitiful 63.8 per cent club rating in November four years ago and before Foote arrived here.
Aside from everything that went dreadfully wrong in 2024-25 during an injury-filled, drama-packed, coaching-exit sour season that left everyone with a bad taste, willingness to do the tough stuff on the penalty kill and keep fleeting playoff hopes afloat was something.
And now that Foote is running the bench and the PK is struggling with a 27th ranking at just 69.7 per cent, it’s time for a check-
