Shaquille O'Neal and Kirk Herbstreit have offered conflicting comments in relation to Nick Saban and the LSU football job opening.

O'Neal, perhaps LSU's most famous alumnus and a former Tigers basketball star, said he's heard the school has had discussions with Saban, who won a national title at LSU in 2003, about bringing him back to Baton Rouge.

"I heard through the grapevine that they were having conversations with Nick Saban," O'Neal said in an interview with US Weekly . "That'd be awesome if we can bring Nick back."

Herbstreit, who works with Saban on "College GameDay," said he doesn't see a return to any program happening.
