DES MOINES, Iowa —

The Des Moines Airport Authority Board announced it is proceeding with the next phase of its ongoing major project to add a new terminal.

Phase 1B East was approved by the board. As a result, construction will extend all the way to Fleur Drive, according to a release from the board.

The new phase will allow for four more gates on the east end of the new terminal, bringing the total to 11 new gates.
