KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The pedestrian bridge at Oakley Avenue over I-70 will be closing for a lengthy period of time starting this month.
Starting on Friday, Nov. 7, the bridge will be closed until September 2026 for a bridge replacement.
Pedestrians are recommended to use 29th Terrace., Van Brunt Boulevard and 30th Terrace as detours. There will also be road closures on I-70 during the bridge demolition.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will close I-70 between 23rd St. and the U.S. Highway 40 and 31st St. intersection from Nov. 7, starting at 8 p.m., until Monday, Nov. 10 at 6 a.m. This is due to crews also demolishing the Lister Ave. Bridge, along with the pedestrian bridge and a waterline installation.
