A legislative audit found "widespread financial mismanagement" at the top of Minnesota's state government.

The report , which accounts for the period between July 1, 2022, to Dec. 31, 2024, revealed a dozen instances of alleged mismanagement in the office of Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flannigan, including not correctly managing receipts, not accurately overseeing employee timesheet completion and approval, and making several late — and sometimes inaccurate — payments to vendors.

"The Office of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor generally did not comply with the criteria we tested," the audit report said.

The governor's office said they've already resolved 11 of 12 of the report's findings and implemented its recommendations.
