The Calgary victim of an extortion plot demanding he cover a third-party illegal gambling debt was shown photos of dismembered limbs to convince him to fork over more than $200,000, court heard Tuesday.
And the victim’s parents even agreed to sell their home to cover the debt even though they had hoped to use its sale as part of their retirement, Crown prosecutor Katherine Love said.
