Perth Zoo’s beloved bull elephant, Putra Mas, has officially crossed the border into South Australia, marking a major milestone in what is one of the most epic elephant journeys in the nation’s history.
Travelling 2700km from Perth to his new forever home at Monarto Safari Park, Putra Mas has remained in high spirits, according to Perth Zoo.
“Putra Mas seems to be taking the journey in his stride, calmly drinking, snacking, and responding warmly to his carers during each check-in,” a Zoo spokeswoman said.
“It’s reassuring to see him so settled as he travels toward his new forever home, Monarto Safari Park.”
The expert team escorting him spent the night crossing regional towns, refuelling both the truck and their precious cargo.
