For a senior citizen who is more than one-third of his way through a solo, round-the-world biking expedition, Kevin Record seems remarkably energetic, relaxed and mentally stout in spite of the loneliness, fatigue – and killer climbs – he endures every day.

Record, who is from Tallahassee, Fla., is 65, a grandfather and a relatively new cyclist . Tennis , not biking, is the sport that defined him. But long-distance cycling has captured his heart and soul.
