MARSHALL COUNTY ( 25News Now ) - An elderly man has died in single-vehicle crash in Marshall County.

The crash was reported shortly before 1:20 p.m. Tuesday on State Route 29, just south of Hopewell Estates.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office said Orville Schneider, 94, of Hopewell was driving northbound on Route 29 when his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck left the roadway for unknown reasons, hit the end of a guardrail, and came to rest in an embankment.

Authorities said Schneider was pronounced dead at the scene.

Route 29 was closed for a time while investigators and first responders worked at the scene.

The sheriff’s office and the Marshall County coroner are investigating.
