NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A landfill operating without permits in Davidson County was shut down two weeks ago, and residents say similar operations could be affecting neighborhoods across the area.

The property was closed by Metro Codes after environmental advocates sued the owners in court. A jury determined the site was operating as a landfill, but only had a grading permit.

The stop work order now requires the owner to get new permits to reflect an operating landfill.

WSMV4 Investigates found similar properties that now could also face the same fate because of the similarities between the properties.

Nicholas Keck said his plans to build a home with his wife are now on hold due to concerns they’ve raised for years about the impacts of the property neighbors dubbed ‘Dirt Mountain.’
