BATON ROUGE, La, (KLFY) -- A New Iberia native has been appointed as LSU's permanent athletic director, according to Yahoo Sports.

Verge Ausberry has been serving as LSU's Executive Deputy Athletic Director since 2019, alongside his role as the Executive Director of External Relations for the university.

Board members have granted Ausberry full authority to lead the hiring process for the next head coach of LSU football.

With Ausberry at the helm, LSU's athletic department is poised for a new chapter, particularly in its football program.
