A man who was a suspect in a fatal shooting Oct. 15 in Goodyear Heights was arrested Nov. 4 in Atlanta, according to the U.S. Marshals Service in Northern Ohio.

Travonte D. Griffin, 37, was recently identified as the suspect in the shooting death of Damere T. Boddie, 31, in the 500 block of Mohawk Avenue, according to a news release.

Griffin was on federal probation for previous weapons violations. Investigators in Ohio determined that Griffin fled the Akron area and was likely in Atlanta.

Members of a task force led by U.S. marshals in Atlanta found Griffin walking along a highway and arrested him without incident. A firearm was recovered during the arrest, according to the release.

Griffin remains in custody in Atlanta until he can be extradited back to Akron.
