GREENSBORO, N.C. — For many North Carolina drivers, a trip to the DMV is starting to feel less painful . New state data shows average wait times dropped by more than 25 minutes in October compared to the previous month.
The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles says the change comes after a statewide hiring push, new laws allowing more online services, and a focused effort to improve efficiency.
“It’s really having everybody rolling in the same direction,” said Marty Homan, communications director for the DMV. “The audit came out in support of having more employees, the legislature funded more employees, the governor signed the bill, so everybody’s pulling in the same direction and we’re starting to make progress.
