Two men have been arrested after authorities say they kidnapped two sisters from Oakland and trafficked them in Bakersfield.
Kern County sheriff’s deputies responded around 7:24 a.m. on Saturday near McKinley Avenue and Sanford Drive after receiving a report of a found child.
Deputies found a 17-year-old girl who told investigators that she and her 14-year-old sister, Nevaeh Martinez, had been abducted by two men and forced into prostitution.
Detectives identified the suspects as Donald Edward, 34, and Myles Wilkerson, 20. Both are accused of kidnapping, human trafficking, and sexually exploiting minors.
Search warrants executed at the Vagabond Inn on Knudsen Drive led to the discovery of evidence linked to prostitution and the molestation of a minor, authorities said.
