A pedestrian has died after being struck by a freight train east of the Aldershot GO station in Burlington on Tuesday afternoon.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Halton police told the Star, noting the person’s death was not considered to be suspicious. Details about the individual who died are not yet known.

Regular GO train service has resumed on the Lakeshore West line after the area was closed for the investigation, Metrolinx said in a service update .

Following the investigation, the first eastbound GO trains departing the West Harbour station were scheduled to resume at 5:23 p.m., reaching Union Station at 6:45 p.m.

The first westbound train making all stops was to depart Union Station at 3:51 p.m. and expected to reach Hamilton GO Centre at 5:06 p.m.
