The Chargers acquired offensive lineman Trevor Penning from the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday afternoon, shortly before the NFL Trade Deadline hit.

Penning, 26, was a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of the University of Northern Iowa. He started all 17 games for the Saints in 2024 and has started six of their games this season.

New Orleans received a sixth-round pick in 2027 in exchange for Penning.

The Bolts also shipped cornerback Ja'Sir Taylor to the New York Jets, receiving a conditional seventh-round pick in 2028. He was selected by Los Angeles in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Wake Forest.

The Jets had previously made headlines by trading star defensive players Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams.
