Most of the 29 city-owned lots that officials identified as part of an infill housing program have plans in the works, the city of Fort Wayne announced Tuesday.

Officials gathered on Fox Avenue south of downtown to celebrate construction on the first two homes that are part of the city's A Lot to Love program. The program is designed to encourage infill housing development on the city-owned vacant lots.

In March, 29 lots were identified when the program opened. As of Tuesday, 27 lots had been or will be transferred to new owners who will develop housing, a news release said. Mayor Sharon Tucker said she's excited to see the response to the program.
