President Donald Trump on Tuesday nominated billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman to lead NASA, five months after abruptly withdrawing Isaacman’s nomination for the same job.
“Jared’s passion for Space, astronaut experience, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of exploration, unlocking the mysteries of the universe, and advancing the new Space economy, make him ideally suited to lead NASA into a bold new Era,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Isaacman is a trained commercial astronaut and orbited Earth twice in private spaceflights. Still, he was always an unusual choice for NASA chief.
