MONROVIA, Ind. — Some Morgan County residents say they’re just now catching up to a project that’s already reshaping their small town, a massive Google data center .

Last month, county commissioners approved a rezoning request for an additional 158 acres of farmland outside Monrovia, clearing the way for the tech giant to expand its future campus. That vote followed an earlier approval in February, bringing Google’s total footprint in the area to more than 500 acres.

But residents say they didn’t learn the full scope of the project until it was nearly a done deal.

At the Farm House Brew coffee shop, business owner Carrie Syczylo said she’s frustrated by what she calls a lack of transparency.
