INDIANAPOLIS — Here in Indiana, families are scrambling to put food on the table for children as November SNAP benefits have still not been delivered for November.

That's why now more organizations are stepping up to help, including volunteers at the Indiana Youth Institute . They partnered with Pack Away to get the job done.

On Tuesday, dozens of volunteers with the institute spent time packing bags of healthy meals during a conference in downtown Indianapolis.

"I got to have some fun, be with my friends and serve others," said volunteer Connie Minich. "I've been helping my brother who is re-entering into the community and it brings a whole new meaning to having your basic needs met."

The bags will go to students and families who may normally depend on SNAP benefits.
