OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - For almost a week, neighbors have stepped up to fight food insecurity in the heartland. With SNAP benefits paused during the government shutdown , now in its 35th day, your donations are critical, as many struggle to put food on the table.
Omaha residents Katie Thomas and Mary Lincoln donated items this week to their local food drive at the Camelot Community Center.

“I brought in some can corn, peanut butter, things that are shelf stable that they can stretch a little ways,” explained Katie. “But I do it because my father did it, and so we continue to do it.”
“Here at Camelot, they were doing it and a lot of us play pickleball so we brought stuff,” said Mary Lincoln.
