Federal investigators say the REACH air ambulance that crashed onto Highway 50 in Sacramento last month lost power just moments after takeoff from UC Davis Medical Center. According to the NTSB report, the helicopter reached about 500 feet before spiraling downward during its final 11 seconds of flight. A section of the rotor blade was found lodged in a nearby home’s garage roof. Flight nurse Suzie Smith died from her injuries, while pilot Chad Millward and paramedic Margaret “Dede” Davis have been released from the hospital.
