As was the case in 11 Granite State cities Tuesday, there was no school in Nashua. But Levi Chewlin and his sister Kylie still spent much of their day at one of the city’s two public high schools.
“They had the day off, so it was, ‘let’s go cheer for mom,’” said Jennice Chewlin, one of four candidates for alderman in Nashua’s Ward 5, whose residents vote at Nashua High School South.
According to early estimates, voter turnout was on the low side across the city, despite featuring a four-way race to succeed Ward 5 Alderman Ernie Jette, who decided against running for a fifth term. There was also a closely watched contest between four canidates looking to grab one of three open seats for alderman-at-large.
