After years of anticipation, Egypt’s long-awaited Grand Egyptian Museum has officially opened its doors. Located near the Pyramids of Giza, this $1 billion complex has been described as the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization—and it’s easy to see why.

Covering more than 5,381,900 square feet, the museum holds over 100,000 artifacts from Ancient Egypt’s 30 dynasties.
