THE BBC One viewing figures for the Second Ashes Test between England and Australia outperformed the series opener.

On Saturday at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, Shaun Wane’s men went down 14-4 despite a much-improved performance against the Kangaroos.

That consigned England to an Ashes series defeat, after Australia ran out 26-6 winners in the First Test at Wembley.

According to Rugby League On TV , the average viewing figures last weekend stood at 837,000, which equated to a 13.8 percent share of the audience.

There was also a peak of 972,000, beating the First Test in both respects.

The final Test takes places on Saturday afternoon at AMT Headingley, the home of Leeds Rhinos.
