President Donald Trump on Tuesday nominated businessman and astronaut Jared Isaacman to serve as the next administrator of NASA, praising him as a leader capable of guiding the agency into “a bold new era.”
Trump announced the nomination on his social media platform, saying Isaacman’s “passion for space, astronaut experience, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of exploration” made him ideally suited for the job. The president also thanked Acting Administrator Sean Duffy for his service leading the agency in an interim role.
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk appeared to endorse the announcement, posting a heart, rocket and American flag emoji shortly after Trump’s statement.
