On Tuesday, on a crisp, sunny fall day with temperatures mostly in the 50s, voters around the state headed to the polls — including in Detroit, where the mayor’s race is on the line.
Voters at Bethel AME Church on Antoine Street in Midtown Detroit, near I-75, told Deadline Detroit why they voted for City Council President Mary Sheffield for mayor or her opponent, Rev. Solomon Kinloch.
Some residents said they voted against Kinloch because they felt strongly about maintaining a separation between church and state. They also said Sheffield had more experience in government and would do a better job.
