MADRID, Iowa —

LifeFlight is responding to a crash north of Madrid, the Boone County Sheriff's Office says.

The crash happened on Iowa Highway 17 just before 5:30 p.m.

The road is blocked in both directions.

The sheriff's office said two cars were involved in a head-on collision.

Authorities are still waiting to learn how many people were hurt and the extent of their injuries.
