GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Christmas tree that’s being used for Gwinnett County’s annual lighting ceremony snapped during setup Tuesday morning, according to officials.
The tree broke in half while crews were raising it at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse lawn. It had arrived just hours before the incident happened.
Officials said the damage does not appear to be extensive. Crews are working to determine how to proceed with raising and decorating the tree.
The 38th annual “Lighting of the Tree” is scheduled for Thanksgiving night.
