COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Testimony continued Tuesday in a pretrial hearing for a former Columbia gas station owner accused of killing a teenager.
Rick Chow is charged in the May 2023 shooting death of Cyrus Carmack-Belton outside of his Parklane Road gas station.
Chow and his attorneys have argued he acted in self-defense.
Deputies who responded to the scene and investigators with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department testified Tuesday.
One key factor in the case is whether Carmack-Belton pointed a gun at Andy Chow, Rick Chow’s son. Andy Chow testified Monday that he feared for his life.
On body camera footage, Rick Chow can be heard telling deputies that as he and Andy were chasing the teenager, Carmack-Belton tripped and fell, and his son saw a gun.
