Detroit — Detroit voters want Mary Sheffield, who will be the city's first new mayor in 12 years, to prioritize certain issues in the first 100 days, from creating more affordable housing to focusing on the revitalization of the surrounding neighborhoods, to even getting a new supermarket.
Shuntinique Butts, 38, said she wants Sheffield to bring “change” in the first 100 days in office.
“Not only bringing change to the city, but have the love that the city needs, because we've been going through so much in the city — it's been crazy,” she said.
Fewer than 25% of Detroit voters were expected to have cast ballots in the general election, City Clerk Janice Winfrey estimated, after absentee ballots became available in late September and a 10-day, early in-person voting period ended Sunda
