VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach Sheriff Rocky Holcomb will continue leading the city’s sheriff’s office after winning re-election Tuesday night.

Holcomb, a Republican who has served as sheriff since 2021, defeated challenger Peacemaker Aldo with 77% of the vote compared to Aldo’s 23%, according to unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections.

Throughout his campaign, Holcomb emphasized his more than 30 years of law enforcement experience and his record of community service. He pointed to programs he’s implemented during his time in office — including inmate reentry initiatives aimed at reducing recidivism, a consumer protection unit, and the creation of the region’s first K-9 unit dedicated to detecting fentanyl.
