A motorcyclist died and a passenger was hospitalized Tuesday after police from King County pursued the driver about 30 miles across the county line.
About 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Burien police responded to a traffic stop for a suspected stolen motorcycle at Southwest 146th Street and Ambaum Boulevard Southwest, according to the King County sheriff’s office.
It was a “potential domestic violence case with a weapon and a passenger on the back,” sheriff’s spokesperson Brandyn Hull wrote in an email.
The motorcyclist fled and police gave chase to Lakewood, where the motorcycle crashed. The driver died at the scene on South Tacoma Way near 100th Street Southwest, and the passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries, Hull said.
