LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech began the new season with an exclamation mark, thumping Lindenwood 98-60 in their opener at United Supermarkets Arena.

Head coach Grant McCasland's squad was without superstar JT Toppin, who was the preseason Big 12 Player of the Year amongst other preseason accolades. In the face of Toppin's absence, the Red Raiders were led by sophomore standout Christian Anderson, who racked up 34 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and four steals. Two other Red Raiders broke double figures, as Donovan Atwell dropped 22 points and Leon Horner had 10 points off the bench. All five of Texas Tech's starters notched at least seven points in a wire-to-wire victory.
