VERSAILLES, Ky. (WKYT) - The Woodford County Library is facing significant challenges obtaining new books after the closure of its longtime vendor Baker and Taylor.
The library says Baker and Taylor is winding down operations for financial reasons. Libraries across the nation have reported similar problems with the vendor.
Woodford County typically receives about 500 new books per month, but that number has fallen significantly due to the situation.
Rebecca Schanbacker, head cataloger at the Woodford County Public Library, said the closure has created confusion and delays.
“It was very frustrating cause there was a lot of confusion,” Schanbacker said.
She estimates hundreds of books - about two months’ worth of inventory - are in limbo due to the vendor’s closure.
