Lansing — Pamela Pugh, president of Michigan's State Board of Education, directed about $10,000 in leftover cash from her unsuccessful 2024 bid for the U.S. House to herself and her own consulting firm, through a series of expenditures that experts said raised questions of whether federal standards were complied with.
Pugh, a Saginaw Democrat who's currently running for a pivotal state Senate seat, moved money that donors gave to her U.S. House campaign through state and federal political action committees (PACs) she established called BOSS UP. The BOSS UP PACs' website says, "Every dollar invested helps us back bold leaders, advance transformative policies and empower grassroots movements working for justice and equity."
