The Gadsden Police Department’s Street Crimes and Narcotics (SCAN) unit seized more than 95 pounds of marijuana on Sunday.

The drugs were valued at over $100,000.

Mayor Craig Ford said a citizen tip about a strong odor of marijuana led to an investigation in East Gadsden. The Glencoe Police Department assisted.

“This is part of our efforts to clean up Gadsden,” said Ford. “We are getting this stuff off of our streets.”

“This is what happens when our community and police work together,” stated Sgt. Simeon Smith.

Ford said the city’s police officers are “focused and relentless.”

“They’re not just enforcing the law,” he said. “They’re protecting the quality of life in our city.”

It is unclear if any arrests were made.
