HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) — Gov. Josh Green has proposed a $10 billion federal investment package as part of negotiations over the Army’s training lands in Hawaii, according to details from his Oct. 29 letter to Army Secretary Dan Driscoll .

The letter provided details of talks Green had with federal leaders on the future of Army training lands and led to a signed framework for negotiations.

The letter does not specifically mention the Army’s nearly 20,000-acre lease at the Pōhakuloa Training Area, which expires in 2029.

The proposal comes as the state land board has rejected the environmental impact statement for that lease.
