JASPER COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to as sexual assault on Tuesday, and as suspect is in custody.

The victim of the sexual assault said it happened in the north end of the county. According to the sheriff, the victim had extensive injuries that were consistent with a violent assault.

After investigators gathered evidence and conducted interviews, they got an arrest warrant for Samuel Jason Jones, 53, of Jasper.

Jones was arrested at his home and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

The sheriff said the investigation is ongoing.
