SHELBY, Ohio — As Perrysburg’s girls soccer season ended in Tuesday’s Division I state semifinal, so did the tenure of 15-year coach Jorge Diaz.

The top-ranked Yellow Jackets fell 6-2 and couldn’t get revenge on No. 2 Upper Arlington, who handed them their only loss of the season Oct. 4.

“They just pressed so hard, they had a tremendous defense,” Diaz said. “As soon as we scored, I thought that it was going to be 1-1 at half, but they scored right away. We do it to other teams, and they did it to us.”

The Golden Bears (18-1-2) never trailed in the game, first scoring at the 4:40 mark of the first half when Lillian Schilling broke free down the middle of the field. Senior Kinsley Jones had the answer for Perrysburg just two minutes later.
