JACKSON, Mo. (KFVS) - As the delay of SNAP benefits continues to impact families across the country, Harps Food Stores in Jackson, Missouri is lending a hand to support families in need.
The store put together what they call “blessing bags.”
“We started this last year, but we started it a little early this year when we heard that this was possibly going to happen,” said general manager Kevin Groves.
The blessing bags are filled with non-perishable food items, including canned green beans, corn, soups, tuna and more.
Groves said customers who come in can add a $10 bag or a $20 bag to their purchase.
“We’ve sold over 200 bags just in a few days, and that’s helped a couple of the food banks. And I mean, they were very grateful for what we’ve given them so far. And we’ve got a third one t
