JEFFERSON — Village hall was busy Monday evening as a new mayor took the oath of office, a two hour and 24 minute executive session occurred and an EPA violation was announced.

Jefferson Council President Pro Tem Steve Sekanina was officially sworn in as mayor, after the resignation of former Mayor Jim Chiacchiero was accepted early in the meeting. Sekanania will fill out the final two years and almost two months of the former mayor’s term.
