It's the season of final practices in fall prep sports, including volleyball, as the State tournament begins Wednesday.

The senior-laden Middleton boys team held its final practice of the season Tuesday. The Cardinals are primed for their trip to the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, led by Caden Van Buren, a Loyola Chicago commit and the program's all-time kills leader.

"It's pretty bittersweet, you know, just knowing that it's gonna be gonna be over in three days — hopefully three days," Van Buren said. "But it's been a hell of a ride with these guys. Wouldn't trade it for the world, and it's very special, a lot of emotions with it. But I don't plan to release any of those emotions until we win on on Friday."
