Malkangiri: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Odisha’s Malkangiri district after being served a spiked drink.

According to a delayed report, the incident took place on Monday when the girl went out with the youth, who was known to her, on his motorcycle, police said. ADVERTISEMENT

The youth reportedly offered her soft drink spiked with some sedative. When the girl was under the impact of the spiked drink, the accused raped her.

Following the incident, the girl informed her family about her ordeal and subsequently a complaint was lodged with the police.

Based on the complaint received from the girl’s family, the youth was detained and further investigation is underway, according to Regan Kindo, the inspector-in-charge of the Malkangiri police station.
