BROOMFIELD — No matter what the teams look like, it’s always a toss up whether Boulder or Fairview boys soccer will win out in their annual rivalry matchup.
On Tuesday night at Elizabeth Kennedy Stadium, that honor belonged to No. 9 Boulder, who downed the eighth-seeded Knights 2-1 in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs despite a strong push from Fairview in the second half.
Boulder senior forward JT Cunningham delivered what ended up being the fatal blow in the 34th minute after sinking the ricochet from a Fairview save. His goal was sick — literally.
