Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has spoken about the scepticism he faced from the Hindi film industry regarding the casting of Ranveer Singh in his 2013 film 'Bombay Velvet'. Kashyap, who ultimately cast Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, revealed that at the time, Ranveer Singh was still a newcomer and not widely accepted by prominent figures within the industry.
In a recent interview with Komal Nehta, Kashyap shared that he found himself alone in his preference to cast Ranveer Singh, as industry insiders encouraged him to opt for a more established name. He said, "I talked with everyone in the industry at that time, there was no one left. Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, and everyone told me you are mad, just try and do it, this is the correct way. Do it with a big actor."
