GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A motocyclist is dead after a crash involving multiple cars in Gilbert late Tuesday night.
Police responded to the intersection of Gilbert and Ray roads around 9:30 p.m. for reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and two cars. When officers got on scene, they found a motorcycle rider with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released yet.
Detectives are investigating what led to the crash. They have not said if speed or impairment is a suspected factor.
The intersection will remain closed for several hours. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Police recommend that drivers looking to travel north-south take Lindsay Road, and for east-west travel, take Warner Road.
