Five individuals tragically lost their lives on Wednesday morning at Chunar Railway Station in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, after being struck by a train. The incident occurred as the victims were crossing the tracks shortly after disembarking from another train.
According to railway officials, the victims had just exited the Chopan-Prayagraj Express but chose to cross the tracks instead of using the designated foot overbridge. They were hit by the Howrah-Kalka Netaji Express, which was approaching from the opposite direction.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. He instructed local authorities to respond quickly and ensure that relief operations were carried out efficiently. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been dispatched to the site to assist with rescue efforts.
